Good Friday, or the Best Friday?

Four years ago, I wrote my first sentence of my first book. Today, I submitted my first book, “Elle” to the LitUp writing competition sponsored by Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club.

I was shaking and couldn’t decide if I should throw up or cry; I couldn’t believe it was all real. My book baby is out there. I did it, I really did it. I am a writer. I am an author. I did it!

I wish I could call Grandma and tell her, I wish I could tell her that being Jewish and being a woman gave me this opportunity; she’d be so proud. I’m so unbelievably proud, I can’t contain the butterflies.

“Elle” is on hold until the competition results are released. What’s crazy is how similar this real life situation is to my novel: the competition, the prize, the main character, everything. Elle submits her final manuscript in a coffee shop, and that’s exactly where I was today when I hit submit with Cain (my hubby) by my side.

While I wait for the announcement (December ‘22/ January ‘23 ), I’ll be working on my second book, “Grace”. She’s a manuscript veiled in mystery; a true whodunit, and I can’t wait to see where she takes me.
