“Elle”
My first book baby is almost ready for the submission process.
I thought when I wrote my first 40,000 words, I’d be proud. Then I thought when I finished my first draft I’d be proud. Then when she was edited. Then when she was perfect.
No. The journey has made me proud and I’ve only just realized it. In September 2018, I sat down at a table in The Candy Bank (in Mandeville, LA) and started my first draft of Elle. At that time, every single character had a different name and my plot was completely bonkers. The only thing that never changed was my overall message - society cannot dictate your success, only you can determine what it is for yourself.
Fast forward to today + Reese Witherspoon’s book club is hosting a competition for unagented and unpublished authors; I’ll be submitting Elle. Ironically, this whole scenario is very much like my novel…it’s almost too serendipitous. Fingers crossed everyone! Elle is going to change lives.
