(Update) The Pact
In four days, I wrote 10,000 words. Some may think that’s a lot, some may say, “Aren’t you supposed to be a full-time writer? Only 10,000?” Or, maybe it’s just the intimidating voice in my head that sometimes tells me I’m an imposter.
The first draft is always so hard for me because I’m a perfectionist. And the thing about a first draft is - it’s a dumpster fire—literally, every time. The magic really happens in the next couple of drafts and yet, getting the first one done is a constant battle with my self-confidence and procrastination abilities.
She’s coming along though. I’m sure we will see many different versions along the way, but I’m so incredibly proud. It’s like I can see the book playing out in my head as I write. It’s a movie and I created it entirely with my imagination (+ life experiences of course.)
T-swift (love her) writes about her life in her songs; that’s what I do in my books. I don’t know if an author can really write without pulling from their own life. If so, wow. I find my perception, my travels, my loss, and my love inspiring every word. Every scene. Every chapter.
I have a goal to finish The Pact by July 4. It may be closer to Aug 1, but Elle goes to the editor on June 14, and editing her is about to get next level! I could scream I’m so excited. And proud. Did I mention proud?
xoxo
