The Pact

I’m not the type of author to work on multiple projects at one time - it’s too much for me. I like to have one novel that has my attention and then move on from there.

However.

I broke my own ‘rules’.

My project, “Grace”, is a little heavy for me because of current life experiences and family deaths. Now, there’s banter, humor, and romance, but the main problem is a girl was found dead, so whodunit, right? Right. Heavy shit.

So, lately, I’ve been reading a ton of rom-coms. Like, they are kind of the only thing I’m reading other than ACOTAR and that series is basically my bible, so, anyways. The point is, I’ve been escaping in fiction, which is nothing new, but the way in which I escape is interesting; rom-coms were never my genre. Fantasy and contemporary or historical fiction were always more my jam.

Right now I want fun reads. I want the reads that give me space to breathe, to feel joy and happy endings. No (heavy) suspense, no major thinkers, just comfort.

With that, I had the most brilliant (in my opinion) idea for a rom-com. The words are just flowing and the story is basically telling itself. It’s fun, light, and witty. It’s exactly what I need to read and write right now.

I’m calling it, “The Pact,” because my two main characters make a pact as children that will come full circle when they are in their 30s.

Ahhh, so excited to write this!
